We consider the {\it fractal von Neumann entropy} associated with the {\it fractal distribution function} and we obtain for some {\it universal classes h of fractons} their entropies. We obtain also for each of these classes a {\it fractal-deformed Heisenberg algebra}. This one takes into account the braid group structure of these objects which live in two-dimensional multiply connected space.

The difficulties with which the concept of point-like particles is beset, such as the infinities encountered in the existing theories of elementary particles, suggest a different approach to the study of these particles. Instead of restricting ourselves to the concept of point-like particles, we should extend our investigation to the implication of the concept of particles having infinite extension. Such a particle should consist of a continuous distribution of energy over all space, the energy...

It contains many worked examples that illustrate the theoretical material and serve as models for solving problems. The first two chapters "Number. Variable. Function" and "Limit. Continuity of a Function" have been made as short as possible. Some of the questions that are usually discussed in these chapters have been put in the third and...

From one discussion to another the AUTHOR will lead the inquisitive and receptive READER to different notions, ideas, and theorems of calculus, emphasizing especially complicated or delicate aspects, stressing the inner logic of proofs, and attracting the reader's attention to special points. I hope that this form of presentation will help a reader of the book in learning new definitions such as...

Man is calculatingly inquisitive. As soon as he discovers a new law of nature he tries to exploit it for his own ends. Having discovered the secret of lightning bolts he uses it to produce electric light. Having learned the laws of river flow he digs irrigation canals and impounds artificial lakes which affect the very climate of whole regions. He has harnessed the power of nuclear fission of uranium and will soon learn to tame the thermonuclear reactions which heat the sun itself. When he...

Fundamental Laws of Mechanics  was first published in English by Mir in 1980. Currently there is 2002 reprint still in stock from CBS Publishers. The objective of this book is to draw the readers’ attention to the  basic  laws of mechanics, that is, to the laws of motion and to laws of conservation of energy, momentum and angular momentum, as well as to show  how  these laws are to be applied in solving various scientific problems. At the same time author has excluded all things of minor...

It contains, however, a sufficiently large number of problems lying beyond the general course to make it also useful in the study of some special courses. The volume contains over 1000 problems. The solutions of the most complicated of them are provided with detailed explanation. A brief summary of the basic terms and definitions at the beginning of each chapter also makes the solving easier. The...

In this booklet we shall consider some simple methods of plotting graphs from given formulas. We shall be dealing here with graphs of a different kind, with graphs that must be plotted from given mathematical formulas. A need for such graphs often arises in various fields of knowledge. Thus, in analysing the theoretical course of some physical process, a scientist obtains a formula yielding some magnitude with which he is concerned, for example, the amount of product obtained relative to time....

Everybody had at some moment used the words âprobabilityâ and ârandom variableâ. The intuitive idea of the probability (considered as frequency) corresponds more or less to the true meaning of this concept. But as a rule the intuitive idea of the random variable differs quite considerably from the mathematical definition. Thus, the notion of the probability is assumed known in Sec. 2, and only the more complicated notion of the random variable is clarified. This section cannot replace a...

The booklet deals with a fundamental method of analytical geometry and its ability to describe geometrical figures through equations. This book offers a geometric theory of logarithms, in which (natural) logarithms are represented as areas of various geometrical shapes. All the properties of logarithms, as well as their methods of calculation, are then determined from the properties of the areas. The book introduces most simple concepts and properties of integral calculus, without resort to concept of derivative. The book is intended for all lovers of mathematics, particularly school children.

The book is devoted to one of the most interesting branches of number theory, the solution of equations in integers. The solution in integers of algebraic equations in more than one unknown with integral coefficients is a most difficult problem in the theory of numbers. Moreover, these equations are sometimes encountered in physics and so they are...

New types of relationships between Feynman integrals are presented. It is shown that Feynman integrals satisfy functional equations connecting integrals with different values of scalar invariants and masses. A method is proposed for obtaining such relations. The derivation of functional equations for one-loop propagator- and vertex - type integrals is given. It is shown that a propagator - type integral can be written as a sum of two integrals with modified scalar invariants and one propagator...

R. P. Feynman was quite fond of inventing new physics. It is shown that some of his physical ideas can be supported by the mathematical instruments available from the Lorentz group. As a consequence, it is possible to construct a Lorentz-covariant picture of the parton model. It is shown first how the Lorentz group can be used for studying the internal space-time symmetries of relativistic particles. These symmetries are dictated by Wigner's little groups, whose transformations leave the...

We show how Feynman diagrams may be evaluated to take advantage of recent developments in the application of Cutkosky rules to the calculation of one-loop amplitudes. A sample calculation of gg->gH, previously calculated by Ellis et al., is presented illustrating this equivalence. This example demonstrates the use of cutting rules for massive amplitudes.

In this talk I discuss properties of the two Symanzik polynomials which characterise the integrand of an arbitrary multi-loop integral in its Feynman parametric form. Based on the construction from spanning forests and Laplacian matrices, Dodgson's relation is applied to derive factorisation identities involving both polynomials. An application of Whitney's 2-isomorphism theorem on matroids is discussed.

The classical notions of continuity and mechanical causality are left in order to refor- mulate the Quantum Theory starting from two principles: I) the intrinsic randomness of quantum process at microphysical level, II) the projective representations of sym- metries of the system. The second principle determines the geometry and then a new logic for describing the history of events (Feynman's paths) that modifies the rules of classical probabilistic calculus. We describe briefly the recent advances in understanding the distributed nature of computations in the (neural) network structure of the brain. We discuss if such artificial networks will be able to perform mathematics and natural sciences. The problem of consciousness in such machines is addressed. Ancient Indian ideas regarding mind-body relations and J. C. Bose's experimental observations regarding the highly distributed computations in the plant body is discussed.
